About me
Who is Jackie?
A Functional Consultant from the Netherlands, living in the beautiful city of Haarlem. I got my travel bug when I traveled to New Zealand at the age of 12. My parents thought about moving to New Zealand. They never moved, but my heart was sold. 8 years later, when I finished high school, I moved to Australia. It was just for one year… Yeah right, I stayed 5 years… Finished my degree at Curtin University in Perth (WA). In 2016, I moved to Ireland where I lived for one year and then moved to London in 2018. In 2020 I moved back to the Netherlands.
I get a lot of energy from researching new places to visit. Eating local foods, meeting fellow travellers and locals who can teach me more about the history of their country.
Why Out in the bush?
The name had to have a connection with Australia because most of my twenties I spent in Australia. Out in the bush means being in the outback. I grew up on a farm in a little town in the south of the Netherlands and when I first moved to Australia I moved to a small mining town in Western Australia. Also, blogging and sharing my travels with the rest of the world has been on my mind for a while. Going on a hut to hut trek in the Dolomites with my friend made me realize I really want to write down my travel ideas and share them with you.
